Just realized I was hanging fly strips the complete wrong direction for years

I had fly strips dangling over my patio all summer and caught maybe two gnats total. My neighbor Bob came over for a BBQ last week and laughed when he saw them. He said the sticky side needs to face open air, not hang against the window screen like I had them. I flipped two strips around and caught 15 flies in three days. Has anyone else had a similar facepalm moment with something this simple?

Wait, how exactly were you hanging them against the screen?

Use a couple of those little suction cup hooks with the sticky backs... stuck them right to the top edge of my monitor bezel and hung my headphones from them. Worked pretty good actually, way better than trying to balance them on the edge.
