Vent: My kid clicked a link in a game chat and my whole steam account got locked
I was in my living room on Saturday when my son yelled that his game was broken. He'd been playing Roblox and someone in the chat sent a link saying it was free stuff. He clicked it and it asked for my Steam login, which he typed in. An hour later, I got an email from Steam saying my account was accessed from a new device and was now locked. I had to spend the next two days going through their support to get it back and change all my passwords. Anyone have a good way to explain phishing to a 10 year old without scaring him?

Ugh, that exact thing happened to my niece. She fell for a "free V-Bucks" link on a Fortnite stream. It looked so real, like the actual Epic Games page. She put in her uncle's login and they cleaned out his whole account, even traded away his rare skins. Took him a week of tickets to get it back. Kids just don't get that real companies never ask for your password in a chat.
