PSA: The coffee shop owner who showed me how easy public WiFi is to snoop on
I was getting a refill at Joe's Beans in Austin last week and the guy behind the counter said he watches people log into banking on his open network all the time, then he pulled up a packet sniffer on his phone and pointed at my screen. I felt stupid because I have a VPN at home but never bothered turning it on at cafes, and now I see why he told me his cousin got his whole account drained in 20 minutes that way. How many of you actually run a VPN when you're on free WiFi, or do I just have bad habits in this community?

Packet sniffer on his phone lol, that's wild. Free wifi is a trap.
