Just realized the free USB stick I grabbed at a Boise truck stop last week was a bad idea
I was at the Flying J off I-84 in Boise and some guy in the lot was handing out free 8GB USB drives with a promo sticker on them, so I took one and almost plugged it into my laptop that night. My buddy who does IT for a hospital said that is a classic way people get hit with malware, since the drive can pretend to be a keyboard and type commands on its own the second it touches your port. Has anyone else run into free USB drives being handed out like that, and do you just toss them or is there a safe way to check one?
