Found out my router was broadcasting my old network name for 6 months

I was cleaning up my device list yesterday and spotted a ghost SSID from a router I replaced in March, turned out the old one was still plugged into a power strip behind my desk, has anyone else discovered forgotten hardware still active on their network?

My buddy found an old wifi extender in his garage closet that was still broadcasting its own network for over a year. He had switched internet providers twice and completely forgot it existed. When he finally unplugged it, he noticed a bunch of random devices that had been connecting to it, probably from neighbors. He checked the logs and found some smart bulb he'd returned to the store months ago was still pinging it somehow.
