A guy at a Denver airport charging kiosk plugged in a random USB and I saw the whole thing
I was sitting at gate B52 at DIA about 4 months ago waiting on a delayed flight to Kansas City, and this dude next to me pulls out a USB cable and just plugs it into the charging port like it was nothing. I didn't say anything at first because who am I to tell a stranger what to do, but then I watched him unlock his phone and a permission popup came up asking to trust some device he obviously didn't own. He hit trust without even reading it, and that was the moment my stomach dropped. Since then I carry a little USB data blocker in my backpack, it costs like $8 on Amazon and it only lets power through so nothing can talk to your phone. I also stopped using those public charging kiosks unless I absolutely have to, and when I do I bring my own wall brick and find a real outlet instead. Hotels, airports, libraries, even that little kiosk at my dentist's office, they're all the same risk. You would not believe how many people around you are doing the exact same thing right now. Does anyone else carry one of these blockers, or am I just being paranoid?
