Question about the real number of people who finish online courses

I was looking at a creator's public report on their course platform and saw only 12% of people who bought their $200 video course actually finished it. That stat from their own dashboard really surprised me, it seems so low. Has anyone else seen numbers like this for their own digital products?

My own Udemy history is just a graveyard of half-watched courses.

Only 12% actually open the box?" That's way more depressing than just not finishing.

Twelve percent sounds about right, honestly. People buy those courses like they're buying a gym membership in January. Feels good to click purchase, then reality sets in. That dashboard is just showing you how many people actually open the box after they buy the shiny thing.
