Hit 1000 subscribers on my crafting channel yesterday - never thought I'd get there

I started my little YouTube channel 8 months ago just to show how I make my own greeting cards. No fancy equipment, just me at my kitchen table with some cardstock and glue. Yesterday I hit 1000 subscribers and it honestly caught me off guard. I remember being at 50 subs thinking this was just a hobby nobody would care about. The milestone matters because it means actual people find my slow, detailed process helpful or relaxing. I didn't do any crazy marketing or spend money on ads. It was all from just posting once a week and answering every comment. Has anyone else hit a surprising milestone with their creative side project that changed how you saw it?

Honestly I gotta disagree that hitting 1000 subs is that big of a deal for most people. YouTube basically hands out that milestone to anyone who sticks around long enough and posts consistently, especially in a chill niche like crafting where there's not much competition. 1000 subs sounds like a lot until you realize most of them probably just clicked subscribe and never watch another video again. I've seen channels blow up to 1000 in a month with one lucky video and then sit there for years. The real milestone that changes things is probably more like 10k or 100k where you actually get some income or real community. I'm not trying to take away from your hard work though, just being real about what it actually means in the bigger picture.

Is it really that deep though? 1000 subs is just a number, not like it changes your life overnight. @jesse_green55 you're overthinking it, people just like hitting a round number.

Jump right to the point, eh? Yeah, 1000 subs is basically the participation trophy of YouTube. You get a shiny badge and the right to brag at parties, but your mom's still the only one watching your videos all the way through. Wait until you hit 10k though, then you can finally afford a second cup of coffee from that weird vending machine.
