Serious question, does a really bad writing day help you more than a good one?
Last Tuesday I sat at my desk in Portland for 4 hours and wrote 800 words of pure garbage, then deleted all of it and ate cereal for dinner. But the next morning I woke up at 6 and cranked out a short story about a missed bus that my group actually liked. Now I can't decide if prompts should come from good days or bad ones. My friend says bad days teach you more because you learn what not to do. Do you use your worst days as writing prompts or do you avoid them completely?
Man, does it really have to be that deep? Sometimes a bad writing day is just a bad day and the stuff you crank out the next morning is good because you slept, not because you suffered for it. I wouldn't build some big system around good days versus bad ones, just write when you can and move on.
