My plot outline app crashed and ate 14 chapters of notes

I'm not a huge planner, but last week I finally sat down to outline a fantasy novel I've been kicking around. I dumped in 14 chapters of worldbuilding, character arcs, even a rough timeline, all into this app I found that syncs across devices. Then the app updated overnight and everything just vanished, like I never typed a word. I spent a solid 4 hours trying to recover it from backups, cloud history, even my phone's cache, but nothing. Now I'm back to using a plain text file and a notebook, and honestly it feels more real. Has anyone else lost a whole project to a glitch like that, or am I just cursed?

Used to be all about fancy tools and sync features. Lost a whole draft to a paywall change once, then went back to Google Docs and never looked back. That notebook probably just saved your novel.

Paywalls killed my backup plan once too. Now I print everything twice.
