My fictional character got a parking ticket in last week's prompt
I was writing a prompt about a detective who parks anywhere. Last Tuesday I put him in a no-parking zone outside a Phoenix diner. Then the prompt took over, he got a $40 ticket and a rant about city zoning. My readers dm'd me asking if it actually happened to me. Has a character ever hijacked your scene with a random real-world detail like that?

Oh man, that's hilarious and frustrating, right? I love when characters just take the wheel like that, it feels like they're more real than we give them credit for.
