Told a customer we only take cards, he pulled out a ziplock of pennies and asked for a receipt
Worked the register at a hardware store in Toledo for 8 months and dealt with plenty of weird ones. The other day a guy came up with a $4.19 bag of screws and tried to pay with a ziplock bag of loose pennies, and when I told him card only he asked to speak to my manager about "freedom of payment." My manager just pointed at the sign and the dude dumped the pennies on the counter and walked out. Last month another customer did the same thing minus the bag, but he counted out the change himself and even rounded up as a tip. The gap was night and day: the penny bag guy made a scene for 10 minutes, the other guy was gone in 30 seconds. How do you all handle the ones who treat exact change like a legal war?
