The $70 hedge trimmer that caught fire after 2 uses, should I demand a refund or just take the L?

Bought a refurbished hedge trimmer on Tuesday, it smoked and died on a juniper bush Thursday, is it my fault for buying refurb or the store's fault for selling garbage, what do yall think?

Used to be all about taking the L on refurb stuff, figured you're gambling and that's the price. But this is a safety thing, not a wear and tear thing. A trimmer catching fire after two uses isn't "refurbished," that's just defective junk they shouldn't have resold. I'd go back to the store with the burnt thing in a bag and ask for a manager. If they give you any grief, that's when you name and shame them online.
