Rant: the lady who cussed me out over a $4 lemon loaf at the bakery on 5th came back 6 weeks later and acted like we were old friends
I still made her drink right and said nothing, but honestly the regulars who yell at you once and then pretend it never happened mess with my head more than the ones who stay mad, so tell me if you just smile through it or if you say something.

Small thing but she didn't "pretend it never happened," she just decided it didn't matter anymore. There's a difference. The ones who stay mad are at least being honest about where you stand with them, but the friendly-after-a-blowup type has already filed the whole thing under "not my problem." I've watched a guy scream at a barista over a wrong size, then stroll in two weeks later asking how her kid's soccer team was doing. She smiled and made his latte, same as you. It's not that they forgot. They just never thought it was a big deal to begin with, and that's the part that sticks with you.
