Just realized the regular at table 4 has been ordering the same thing for 3 years
I work at a diner in Boise and this older guy named Harold comes in every Tuesday and orders the meatloaf special. Last week I finally asked him why he never tries anything else and he said the first time he came in, his late wife picked that dish for him and he's kept the tradition going ever since. I comped his coffee without saying anything. Anyone else have a regular who turned out to have a whole story behind their usual order?
Did Harold ever say if his wife used to get the same thing or if she just picked it for him that one time? And has he ever mentioned what she was like, or does he keep that part close to the vest? I'm curious if the meatloaf itself is what keeps him coming back or if it's more about sitting in the same booth doing the same thing she'd expect him to do. Three years is a long run for a Tuesday ritual.
