My old foreman said never trust a load chart on a windy day, and last Tuesday at the port proved him right
I was about to pick a 6,000 lb panel at 40 ft radius with gusts hitting 25 mph, and that chart number would've been a joke up there. Has anyone else had a load chart bite them once the wind picked up, or is it just me being paranoid?
Sounds like you're reading the chart right but wind loads on a big panel like that are a real thing, not just paranoia. The chart rates the crane's capacity, not the sail you're hanging off the hook at 40 ft out.
