Load chart apps vs paper charts, I made the call on a Bronx job last month
Had to choose between using the new load chart app on my phone or the laminated paper charts in the cab for a 90 ton pick on a tight jobsite in the Bronx last month. The app was faster but the paper chart was right there and I didnt trust my battery at 40 percent. Picked paper, worked out fine but now I wonder if Im slowing myself down on bigger jobs. Any of you guys fully ditched the paper charts yet?

12 tons of cable spools and a 150 footer on that same Bronx site, paper saved my ass when the app froze on a dead zone by the Con Ed vault. Battery at 40 percent is a gamble I would NOT take again, and that chart was dog eared but it never lied. I keep the app for quick reference on wide open lots, but anything tight or sketchy, I’m flipping the laminated pages. Slowing down is better than guessing wrong on a swing that puts a crane in a hole.
