I finally broke down and called the rental yard for that old Grove crane

Had a job in Lancaster last week where the swing brake on a 1987 Grove RT528C started dragging halfway through setting trusses. My guy on the crew swore he could fix it with a wrench and a prayer but after 4 hours of messing with it I finally called the rental yard. They sent a tech who had the thing running in 45 minutes. Anyone else waste half a day trying to fix old iron yourself before just making the call?

Have you tried unplugging it completely and just walking away for 20 minutes? Sometimes that lets the stubborn thing reset itself and it just works after. I learned that hack after spending way too many evenings rage-clicking through settings. Usually the fix is something stupid simple too, like a hidden checkbox you missed the first three times.
