Had to pick between two crane signals last Tuesday
I was on a job in Phoenix last week lifting HVAC units onto a 4 story roof. The spotter was giving me hand signals but the foreman was yelling something different over the radio. I stopped the lift completely for about 45 seconds to sort it out. Turned out the foreman wanted me to swing left around a duct while the spotter was signaling straight up. I went with the spotter since he had the better line of sight. Everything landed fine but my heart was pounding for the next hour. Anyone else ever get mixed signals like that and have to make a call on the spot?

Man I would've just sat there confused for the whole shift trying to figure out who was right.

Wait, three hours?! That's a whole different level of commitment to an argument right there. I would've given up after ten minutes and just grabbed a new bolt to test it on a scrap piece of metal. Guess that's one way to make the shift fly by though, huh?

Buddy of mine @jordan_webb spent three hours debating which direction to spin a bolt before someone read the manual.
