Had a boom extension pin that just would not line up on a job in Tacoma
Spent a full hour trying to get it seated, thinking it was just a bit of dirt. Turns out, a tiny piece of the safety latch had bent inwards and was blocking the hole. I only saw it when I got a flashlight and looked straight down the pin channel. Fixed it with a flathead screwdriver in about two minutes. Anyone else ever get fooled by something that small?

Check the latch first now, every time. That little bent tab is a classic. Saves you a ton of frustration.

Every time" is a bit much, don't you think?

Yeah but Jesse's got a point though (and I say this as someone who's been burned by that stupid latch more times than I can count). The thing is, if you check it every single time you close the door, you basically never have to deal with it again. It's like a habit you build, takes two seconds. I get why Mark thinks it sounds extreme, but once you've had a door pop open at the wrong moment, you kinda learn your lesson.
