Was convinced I could fix my own curling iron in 20 minutes... took me 4 hours
My old Conair curling iron started sparking at the base last Tuesday and I figured I'd just watch a quick youtube video and swap a wire. I've done basic stuff around the house so how hard could a heating tool be right? Well 4 hours later I had the thing completely disassembled on my coffee table with tiny springs I couldn't get back in place. The video I found was for a different model and the wiring diagram made no sense. I ended up just buying a new one from Sally Beauty the next day. Has anyone else tried to fix salon tools themselves and regretted it?

Tried to fix my blow dryer once and ended up with a weird extra screw on the floor that I'm PRETTY sure was important. That thing went straight in the trash after I couldn't find where it went.

I mean, that screw probably holds the heating element bracket in place, so your dryer might be running a bit hotter now without it. Idk, I've done the same thing with a toaster and ended up with extra crispy toast for a week. Maybe it's just me but those "extra" screws always seem to be the ones that keep the whole thing from catching fire.

That little screw was definitely holding the weight of the universe together or something lol. I took apart a flat iron once and ended up with three mystery springs on my rug and just threw the whole thing in the dumpster out of spite.
