The time I tried dry shampoo on a client mid-foiling and saved a disaster
I had a client come in last Tuesday with oily roots an hour after I already started her foil highlights. I was out of time to wash and re-dry, so I sprayed a little Batiste dry shampoo right on the sectioned roots before applying the lightener. It soaked up the oil and the bleach lifted perfectly, no patchy spots. She walked out with clean looking highlights and I saved myself 45 minutes. Anyone else tested a random hack like that and had it actually work?

Waited until my client was in the bowl and desperately sprayed dry shampoo on her greasy temples before a toner. Looked like I was putting out a fire but the color grabbed even and she said her hair felt "extra voluminous" which was code for "what did you do to me." Never told her but it worked way better than it had any right to.

Batiste inside a foiling process? That's wild. I would've been too scared the dry shampoo would mess with the bleach, but you basically hacked chemistry.

Changed my mind completely after seeing how chen.adam explained the science behind it. I used to think dry shampoo would just sit on top of the bleach and mess everything up, but the starch actually soaks up excess moisture instead. Makes sense now why the color lifted so clean - less drip means more control over the bleach placement.
