Shoutout to the client who wanted a full bleach and tone in one sitting on hair that was already box dyed black

I was at my station in the salon last Thursday, and this new client came in with a photo of a platinum blonde bob. She said she had colored her hair at home about three weeks ago with a box dye. I did a test strand, and it barely lifted past orange. I told her straight up we needed at least two sessions, maybe three, to get to that color without frying her hair. She got mad, said she had a party that weekend and needed it done now. I held my ground, explained the risk of breakage, and offered to do a shadow root or a darker toner to make it work for her event. She left in a huff without booking. It sucks to lose the money, but I'm not about to ruin someone's hair. Has anyone else had a client just refuse to listen to the basic rules of color?

That point from @cora863 is so true, they often don't believe the risk is real until they're holding a broken piece of hair in their hand. I've had to show clients the melted test strand from the bowl to make them understand why we can't just keep processing. It's a tough spot, but turning them away is always better than the disaster that follows.

Ugh, good call, some people just won't hear the truth until their hair snaps off.

Ever notice how this happens with bad advice too? People ignore warnings until the damage is done.
