Hot take: colorists keep saying 'trust the process' and it's making clients quit at week 3
I had a client walk out mid-appointment last Tuesday because her balayage looked brassy right after rinsing, and she said her last stylist in Dallas told her the same thing about waiting 2 weeks. The thing is, nobody explains that the toner keeps developing for 48 hours and the heat from styling lifts it another half shade, so she was already planning her exit before I could finish the blowout. I started printing a little card with the day-by-day tone shift and my cell number, and my rebooking rate jumped from 6 out of 10 to 9 out of 10 in about 2 months. Why do we keep hiding behind that phrase instead of just showing people what week 1 looks like? Has anyone else tried sending a check-in text at day 3?
