Client wanted warm copper, I went 3 shades darker than her reference pic and she almost cried (happy tears)
A client came in with a photo of warm copper hair she saved from Pinterest, and I stood there with two bowls mixed, one exactly matching the pic and one about 3 shades deeper. I picked the deeper one against my gut because I knew that lighter mix would fade to orange in about 10 days on her level 6 base. She watched me paint it on and went quiet, and I kept thinking I blew it. When I rinsed her out at the bowl she grabbed the mirror and just sat there for a second. She said her sister's wedding is in 2 weeks and this is the color she has been chasing for years. I charged her $145 plus a bond builder and she already booked her touch up for 8 weeks out. Do you all go darker than the reference photo when you know the fade is coming, or stick to what the client asks for?
