Appreciation post: the client who brought her own thinned out nail polish to my station in Reno
She pulled it out of her purse and said "I mix it myself so it goes on smoother than anything in the bottle." Now I want to know, does anyone else let clients bring their own product in, or do you draw the line at the door?
That story warms my heart, clients who trust you with their own stuff clearly feel safe at your station. @william_hunt88 makes a solid point about a waiver and patch test though, that keeps everyone protected while still letting her do her thing.
If she's mixing her own polish and it actually works better, that's a client who knows her stuff. The real issue is what happens if it goes wrong, like a reaction or staining, since your insurance won't cover a product you didn't supply. A good middle ground is having them sign a quick waiver and doing a patch test first, then you're covered and she still gets her custom mix. Letting people bring their own stuff builds trust but you gotta protect yourself too.
