That pickup bed liner I sprayed last month started peeling up yesterday
I did one of those roll-on bed liner kits on my F-150 back in September. Prepped it good, scuffed it up, cleaned it with acetone. Yesterday afternoon I threw a bag of concrete mix in the back and when I pulled it out the liner came with it in a big sheet. What's the best way to actually make these things stick long term without paying a shop a grand to spray it?

Yo did you use the primer that came with the kit? I made that same mistake on my old Chevy... just scuffed and cleaned it, thought that was enough. Turned out those roll on kits are super picky about temperature too, I did mine when it was like 55 degrees out and it never fully cured right. Best thing I found was roughing it up way more than you think you need to, like with 80 grit sandpaper, then hitting it with a heat lamp for a few hours after you roll it on. I ended up having to strip mine completely and redo it the right way, and it's been holding for almost two years now with no issues.

Man, the heat lamp tip is solid, I never woulda thought of that. But here's something nobody talks about with these kits... the humidity. I did mine on a muggy day and it looked great for a week then started bubbling up like crazy. Got a dehumidifier in the garage for round two and it laid down perfect.

No joke, same thing happened to me with my F150. I skipped the primer too because I thought it was just a cash grab, and the paint started peeling in like 3 months. Ended up having to sand the whole bed down to bare metal with 60 grit and start over. Also, your tip about humidity is spot on, I did my second try in July and it was so muggy the paint wouldn't even dry right, just stayed tacky for days. Heated the garage with a space heater and ran a dehumidifier for 24 hours before the final coat, and it finally laid down smooth as glass. That stuff is way pickier than spray cans, that's for sure.
