Subfloor squeak fix that took 20 minutes after 2 years of noise
I had a squeak in a client's living room that drove them nuts for almost 2 years. I tried the usual stuff, shims and screws from below, but it kept coming back every few weeks. Last month I finally pulled up a corner of the carpet and saw the joist had a small gap from a dried out glue bead. I drove a 2 inch deck screw at an angle right into the gap, not the subfloor, and it locked tight. That was 6 weeks ago and the floor is dead quiet now. Anyone else ever fix a squeak that turned out to be glue failure instead of a loose nail?

Dude that is wild, same thing happened at my place but it was the stair treads. Drove me nuts for over a year and turned out it was a dried up glue spot too. Nice when you finally find the real culprit, feels like a win.
