Found out lumber prices in Idaho are 40% higher than Oregon, same species, same grade
Was pricing a deck rebuild for a client in Boise last month. My usual supplier quoted me per board foot and I nearly choked. So I called my old yard in Medford, Oregon just to double check. Same 2x6 cedar, same grade, 40% more up here. The trucking to get it up here is what kills it. I ended up ordering from Oregon and had it freighted in, saved $900 on the whole order even after delivery. Has anyone else found big price gaps between nearby states that made you change your supply chain?

I always thought local was cheapest, but that freight math just flipped my thinking.
