I finally figured out why our flatbed deliveries were always late

I was grabbing coffee near the job site in Austin last Tuesday and overheard a dispatcher talking about how his guys roll straps. He said something like "tightening the binders on the trailer takes 10 extra minutes but saves 30 minutes of rework." It clicked for me right there. All this time I was pushing my team to load faster, but we were losing time on the road when loads shifted. Now I tell my crew to take the extra 5 minutes to double check the tie downs before they leave the yard. Has anyone else noticed a big difference in delivery times just by changing how you secure the load?

Ngl, that's such a simple fix but it makes total sense. I've seen similar stuff happen with my buddies who do heavy haul - the extra few minutes always saves a headache later.

Yeah that's a real thing. I started timing my guys after a few shift claims and found the extra tie down time paid for itself by the second stop.
