I finally understood why my uncle stopped watching the news after a chat at his cabin in the woods.

Sounds like a solid life plan, honestly.

My buddy in Austin just did this, stella_lane. He saved for three years, bought a tiny plot of land, and now lives in a shipping container home he built himself. His whole monthly bill for mortgage and utilities is like 400 bucks. It lets him work part-time at a plant nursery, which is all he really wanted. That kind of setup proves your point about it being a solid plan. It's not about being rich, it's about buying your own freedom.

Your buddy gets it. That's the whole point of working, buying your own freedom. Seeing people trade a big paycheck for a small, manageable life is smart. More time for the stuff that actually matters, less stress over bills. Good for him.
