Used to clone drives with dd for 3 hours, now it takes 12 minutes
For like 2 straight years I did every drive clone with dd on a Linux live stick, and a 500GB laptop drive would tie up my bench for almost 3 hours. Then a guy who runs a repair shop over in Tacoma showed me Clonezilla with the -k1 flag and now the same job is done in about 12 minutes on my SATA dock. The part that got me was the resize step, I used to boot into GParted after every clone and drag the partition out by hand, which is where I actually messed up a customer's tax files one time back in March. Now I let Clonezilla handle the whole thing and I just verify the SMART data before and after. Kind of mad I wasted that much bench space for so long. What are you all using for NVMe to NVMe swaps, since my dock only does SATA?

I had the same problem with my SATA dock so I picked up a cheap NVMe enclosure off Amazon for like 40 bucks. Clonezilla sees it fine as long as you're on a newer kernel, just make sure both drives show up before you start or you'll be scratching your head.
