Question about merging onto the 405 from Sepulveda
A guy in a pickup honked and yelled 'you gotta match speed, not crawl!' when I was too slow merging last Tuesday. I've been practicing hitting the gas harder on the ramp ever since, but it still makes me nervous. Anyone have tips for getting over that hesitation?

Actually, matching speed is the goal, but the real trick is looking for your gap early. You can't just stare at the car in front of you on the ramp. Check your mirror and blind spot halfway up, pick your spot in the lane, then adjust your speed to slide right in. It's more about planning than just mashing the pedal at the last second.
