Question about handling heavy currents on a wreck dive in the Gulf

Got swept off a piling at the Texas Clipper wreck last month and had to bail on the whole job. How do you guys anchor in when the current hits 3 knots without burning through all your air?

That "burning through all your air" part hits close to home. I did a wreck dive off the Florida coast a few years back and the current was so bad I was breathing like I was running a marathon. We finally realized the trick was to tuck in behind the wreck itself, kind of like how you'd shelter from the wind behind a building. The guy I was diving with found this little nook where the current basically stopped, and we sat there for a good ten minutes getting our breathing back under control. Sometimes you just have to stop fighting it and let the wreck work for you.

Ten minutes tucked behind a wreck just waiting? Not a chance I could stay that still.
