My $600 dry suit repair lesson, don't be me
So I tore a small hole in my dry suit seam last month during a hull cleaning job in Norfolk. Instead of sending it to a proper repair shop, I tried to fix it myself with some flex seal and a patch kit I got off Amazon for like $30. It held for about 2 dives, then the seam split wider and water got in during a 40 foot descent. That ruined the suit liner and now I'm out $600 for a full repair and new liner. I wasted 3 days of work waiting around too. Anyone else tried a DIY patch and regretted it? What's the cheapest legit fix for small tears you've found?

Flex seal on a dry suit is like putting a band-aid on a sinking ship. Congrats on turning a $30 mistake into a $600 lesson, that's the most expensive Amazon purchase since I bought a knockoff GoPro that melted in my truck. My favorite part is you probably tested it in the driveway, patted yourself on the back, and then let the ocean do the real quality control. At least you got a free liner replacement out of it, even if it cost you the price of a used kayak. Next time just burn the $30 and skip the middleman.
