Lost a full day of welding on the Hibernia platform because someone bumped my gas valve

I was 90 feet down off Newfoundland working on a riser clamp when my welder started sputtering and then died. Surface sent me back up because they thought my gear was junk, but I found the valve on my gas bottle was half closed after some deckhand knocked into it during the shift change. How do you guys keep untrained deck crew from screwing with your setup while you are in the water?
