Guy maybe 17 years old, standing by the back issue bins at Cosmic Comix in Portland last Saturday, said it so matter of fact while flipping through a 1986 Dark Knight Returns that I had to stop and think about it for a minute.

Wait, hold on... back issue bin at Cosmic Comix in Portland? That's wild, I was literally there three weeks ago looking for some old X-Men issues. I gotta say though, that kid had a point he probably didn't even realize he was making lol. Like yeah, Batman's a rich dude but so is Spider-Man's whole "poor kid from Queens" thing kinda gets overplayed too. Tony Stark's a billionaire with dad issues nobody drags him for it. I mean at the end of the day every superhero is just some traumatized person in a costume if you wanna strip it down that far.

Wait, is it weird that I always defend Bruce's wealth by saying "he's a superhero, not a role model," but then I get roasted for making excuses? @scott.drew you hit it though, the billionaire thing is just one flavor of trauma, like how I obsess over comic back issues to ignore my own emotional baggage. Batman's just got a more dramatic way of spending his therapy money, I guess.
