Back in 1992 a comic shop owner told me to bag every issue I buy

Old Mr. Henderson who ran Comic Kingdom in Des Moines said if I didn't bag my comics right away the covers would yellow and the staples would rust. I thought he was just trying to sell me more bags and boards. Fast forward to last month when I dug up my old Uncanny X-Men #266 and found the cover has turned orange around the edges. He was absolutely right and I wish I had listened to him 30 years ago. Anyone else have a piece of advice from a shop owner that they ignored?

Dude just call it "vintage yellowing" and double the price.

Why does everything have to sound so fake these days just to sell something? You hit the nail on the head honestly. I saw an old lamp at an antique shop last week that was literally dusty and cracked, and they had it tagged as "mid-century patina" for like 200 bucks. It's wild how we just slap a fancy label on stuff that's actually worn out or damaged and suddenly it's worth a fortune. People buy into it too, which is the sad part. I'm right there with you on this one.
