Appreciation post: paid $8 for a beat up copy of Marvel Team-Up #1 at a garage sale in Toledo and it turned out to be my best find
I figured a dollar bin comic from some guy's driveway was just gonna be water damaged filler for my reader pile. Got it home under a lamp and the spine was tight, pages white, and the cover only had one small crease at the corner. Looked it up on the CGC boards that night and people were posting graded copies going for way more than I ever guessed for a book that old. Now I keep a little flashlight in the truck for every rummage sale I pass. What is the cheapest book you ever grabbed that turned out to be worth way more than you paid?
Small thing but the CGC boards are not really a price guide, those sold listings people post are mostly graded copies in high grades and raw books like yours sell for way less even if they look nice. Not trying to rain on your find, Marvel Team-Up #1 is still a fun book and 8 bucks is a steal no matter what. The spine tight and white pages part is what really matters though, that is the stuff that actually bumps value. Just dont expect raw prices to match what graded 9.4s go for or you will end up overpaying at the next sale. Still a great pickup, keep the flashlight handy lol.
