Just realized I stopped camping out at one coffee shop all day and it fixed my whole week
For about 2 years I planted myself at the same spot in a cafe on Elm Street from 9am to 5pm, and by 3pm I was sick of my own laptop and the same four walls. Last month I started splitting my day, mornings there for deep work and afternoons at a quieter place two blocks over that plays jazz instead of pop. Ngl my focus went way up because each spot feels like a fresh start, and I actually talk to people at the second place instead of hiding behind my screen. It also helps that the afternoon spot has outlets by every table, which the morning one does not. Has anyone else found that switching spots mid-day works better than grinding it out in one cafe?
Switching spots all the time just adds friction and wastes the time you spend packing up and walking. Deep work comes from a steady setup, not from chasing a new view every few hours. If you need jazz and outlets to stay on task, is the cafe really the problem, or is it your focus? Grinding it out in one spot builds discipline, while hopping around just masks the real issue.
