Shoutout to the guy who showed me how to descale my espresso machine properly
Used to think running vinegar through it every few months was fine. Then my shots started taking 45 seconds to pull and a friend at the local roastery showed me the correct descaling solution. Took 3 hours to figure out what I'd been doing wrong for 2 years.

I used to think vinegar was fine too. Totally changed my mind after that.

Three hours to figure out the right solution - that sounds about right. I've got a buddy who swears by using citric acid powder instead of the store-bought stuff, says it dissolves scale way faster. But here's what I'm wondering: did you have to completely disassemble the group head to get the old vinegar residue out, or did you just flush it through a few times? Because if it's like my old Rancilio, that vinegar can leave a film that screws with the temp sensor for weeks. Also, what brand of descaling solution did you end up using, the Dezcal or something else?
