PSA: My pour-over game went from hot mess to actually drinkable in one switch

Used to just dump boiling water right on the grounds like a feral animal, but after a buddy timed my pour at 15 seconds and laughed at me, I finally got a gooseneck kettle. Anyone else have that one tool that made you feel like you suddenly knew what you were doing?

That 15 second pour really changes everything, doesn't it.

I heard James Hoffmann mention once that water temp is actually way more forgiving than people think, it's the pour technique that makes or breaks it. That gooseneck really made me feel like I leveled up, lol.

That 15 second pour is no joke, it forces you to actually SLOW DOWN and let the water do the work instead of just flooding everything at once. I was using a fork to stir my bloom like a complete maniac until I realized the gentle pour itself is what makes the coffee bloom properly. The gooseneck basically FORCED me to stop rushing and now I actually taste the difference between light and dark roasts instead of just drinking bitter sadness.
