Found out from a guy at a roasting class in Portland that coffee beans lose about 15% of their weight during roasting, so that $18 bag of beans started as almost $21 worth of green coffee

Did you know about the water loss too though? I started weighing my beans before and after roasting at home and I was shocked, like a pound of green turns into way less than I expected. It made me feel a little better about the price honestly.
