Appreciation post: I finally get why people use a scale for coffee

I always thought weighing beans was overkill. Just scoop and go, right? Then my buddy Dave brought his scale over last Saturday and we made two batches of my usual French press. First one by scoop, second one weighed out to 30 grams. The weighed batch was WAY smoother and not bitter at all. I actually tasted fruit notes I never noticed before. Has anyone else had that moment where a simple tool just clicked for you?

Way smoother and not bitter at all" - that's a lot for a couple grams of beans.
