I thought typing with two fingers was fine until I watched my 12 year old niece hit 60 words per minute
I've been pecking at my laptop keyboard with just my two index fingers for like 15 years and always told myself it was fast enough. Then my sister's kid sat down next to me in Columbus last Saturday and typed a whole paragraph in the time it took me to write one sentence. She said her middle school makes everyone take a typing class for 9 weeks and she uses something called home row where each finger stays on its own key. I tried it for 20 minutes and my hands felt like they were in jail, but I could already see how it would be faster later. Anyone here actually learn touch typing as an adult or did you give up and stick with two fingers?
Learned it at 29 when my hands started hurting from pecking all day. Sucked for like two weeks and I was slower than ever, but then it just clicked and now I don't even think about it. Stick with it, those first few days are the worst part.
