Burned $80 on those fancy coolant filter socks before I realized a few layers of pantyhose over a bucket do the exact same thing
Had a nasty batch of swarf clogging my coolant lines on my Haas mini mill last month and those filter socks lasted maybe 2 hours before they fell apart, but I cut a leg off some old pantyhose my wife was throwing out and it filtered 30 gallons before I had to rinse it out - has anyone else found cheap hacks that work better than the name brand stuff?

Pantry liners work good too for catching the fine stuff.

Use the non-slip ones though @charliestone, they stay put better. I switched to the rubberized kind and they catch way more crumbs. Those hard plastic trays just let everything slide right off.
