Why does nobody talk about the new synthetic creosote formulas?

Last week in Tacoma, I cleaned a flue from a brand new 'eco' log set and the creosote was like black tar, it took me two extra hours to scrape it all out. The homeowner said the box claimed it was 'low residue' but it left the worst buildup I've seen in a long time. Has anyone else run into this with the new 'clean-burning' products?

That "low residue" claim is probably for the ash, not the flue.

Man I used to think those new logs were a good idea! But last month I had the same thing happen, this sticky tar mess all through the chimney. It's like the stuff just vaporizes and then sticks to everything cool. Makes you wonder what's actually in them.

Yeah, that sticky tar is the worst. Emery199 is right about the low residue thing being misleading, had the same mess to clean up last winter.
