The Chatter Lounge in Toledo has a coffee machine that's been out since March and I think we secretly like it
I've been going to the Chatter Lounge in Toledo on and off for about 3 years now, mostly Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Around March they put a little note on the coffee machine that said out of order, and nobody has touched it since. At first people were annoyed, but now I've noticed something weird, folks just bring their own thermos or grab a soda from the cooler and sit down like nothing's missing. The room actually feels quieter without the grinding and the little beeps, and there's this older guy named Dale who swears the talk got better after the machine died. I counted 14 people in there on Thursday and not one person mentioned coffee the whole time. Is it just me, or does the Chatter Lounge work better when there's nothing to fuss over and people just hang out and talk?
Same thing happened at a spot near me where the jukebox broke and nobody fixed it for months, and honestly the place felt way more relaxed once people stopped messing with it. Nobody has to fight over the good songs or yell over the noise, they just sit and actually talk.
