I keep seeing people treat the chatter lounge like a general chat room and it's missing the point

This place is for talking about the chatter lounge itself, not just random stuff. I saw three posts in the last day about weekend plans and car troubles. The community description says it's for discussing the lounge, like how it runs or what we talk about here. That matters because if we all post off topic, the whole thing gets messy and the real talk gets lost. How do you think we should keep things on track without being rude about it?

Shane's question about the actual harm is fair, but Linda's right about old forums dying from it. The clutter makes people who want the real discussion just leave quietly. You end up with a ghost town full of random posts that nobody meant to host.

What's the actual harm in a few off topic posts?
