Update: My car battery died at a gas station in Boise and a stranger's help turned into a real argument

My alternator gave out last Tuesday at the Chevron on Broadway, and this guy named Dave jumped my car. We got talking and he insisted chance meetings are always 'fate' or 'meant to be.' I told him straight up I think that's nonsense, it's just random luck and being decent. We went back and forth for like 15 minutes while my car charged. Anyone else get into it with someone over the meaning of a random help?

Check the date on that text, it was from three weeks ago. You can't call that meant to be. That's just a weird coincidence.

Ever get the feeling some things are just too strange to be random? I know that exact mix of wanting to believe in fate but also feeling a little silly about it. Sometimes a coincidence hits so perfectly it feels like a sign, even if your brain says otherwise. I get why you’d hold onto that feeling.
